WHAT A KICK-START TO JANUARY 2024

Hugh and I had an appointment at the SA Embassy to renew his passport on 2 January 2024. We left for Lisbon on 1 January 2024 and enjoyed an overnight stay. We headed off early the next morning to have passport photos taken and to get to the embassy before closing time. Tick, the application for a passport renewal for Hugh was done.

Three days later, Hugh and I were in Covilha, having pre-op tests done. The following day we were back at the hospital in Covilha and Hugh was admitted. Later that afternoon, he had his procedure done and stayed 2 nights in hospital. Tick, another big item done.

Hugh was discharged from hospital on 7 January 2024, the day my late mom would have celebrated her birthday and a day after Hughºs birthday. We celebrated with a lovely outdoor lunch and delicious carrot cake. We are very proud of our 19 year old son. He has always been a blessing and brought Kobus and myself much joy over the years.

Coco again gave birth to twins and has been a wonderful mother, feeding and protecting her 2 male kids.

The following week both Kobus and I received our residency cards for the next three years, which is absolutely fabulous, being a huge load off our shoulders.

The rest of January was spent relaxing and motivating ourselves to continue with the cob build again. We have been making space in the ruin to clear the cob house.

And just like that the first month of the new year has flown by and we are excited to see what the next 11 months hold in store!
